About Me
Matthew Gorner
I’m a UKCP-registered psychosynthesis psychotherapist and counsellor working in Dalston, London.
Life can leave us feeling lost, overwhelmed or unsure of our next step. Therapy offers space to explore what concerns you, with someone alongside you.
How I work
I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, responding to you and your particular circumstances. At the heart of my work is psychosynthesis: an approach that makes room for mind, feelings, body and any spiritual beliefs or practices that matter to you.
We may work through conversation, or explore dreams, drawing, symbolism, active imagination, journaling or meditation—where these feel relevant and comfortable for you.
Areas of particular interest
I’m particularly interested in our relationships—with other people and with ourselves. This includes the inner critic, self-esteem and the experience of feeling empty, unworthy or stuck.
My interests also include motivation and procrastination, gender and sexuality, masculinity and femininity, consciousness and self-awareness.
Technology, learning and personal development
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a website designer and developer. I retain a strong interest in technology and how it shapes the ways we learn, relate to one another and understand ourselves.
I’m particularly interested in the possibilities—and the concerns—surrounding artificial intelligence. Used thoughtfully, AI may offer useful tools for education and personal development, helping people explore ideas, reflect on their experiences and access learning in new ways.
Alongside these possibilities, I’m mindful of questions about privacy, accuracy, bias and over-reliance. My interest is in using technology to support human judgement, creativity and connection, while recognising its limitations and the value of relationships with other people.
